Note About Shipping To The U.S.
We are located in Canada, but have registered ourselves on eBay.com instead of eBay.ca because it gives us significantly better global exposure. The problem with this is that eBay wants us to charge shipping appropriate to US, where media mail and other options make for fairly reasonable delivery costs. We tried it for a while but ended up losing money on shipping or having to cancel the orders because we couldn't afford to ship for those rates. To manage this we have set the US shipping to run a calculator based on an American location (we chose Plattsburgh as fairly close) and charging according to UPS pricing. This avoids the cancellation issue, but can appear to the buyer to be a prohibitive shipping cost and misrepresents the shipping as being only expedited. If you give us your postal code we will see if we can offer a more reasonable option, but generally we can get a single LP by air to most places in the continental US for $11, a double $16, a few bucks less for ground. If you pay for the item and the shipping was less than you paid we will refund you the difference

Legwork
Label:Solid State Records SS 18068 Format:Vinyl, LP, Album, Gatefold, black label Country:US Released: 1970? Genre:Jazz Style:Free Improvisation, Rhythm & Blues, Fusion
This is a vinyl record album of music by flutist Jeremy Steig with a gatefold cover. Not only did Jeremy play the music on the album, he also completed the album cover and liner art. He is known as one of the greatest jazz-rock flute players around, working at the beginning of the sixties with Richie Havens and backing Tim Hardin in 1967. "Legwork" has long been a "rare-groove" collectors' favorite. Eddie Gomez lays down funky grooves throughout on acoustic bass while not hesitating to swing when necessary, walking his basslines over Don Alias' drumming. Jeremy Steig uses an endless array of flute techniques, soaring above and interacting with the rhythm section. On several tracks he uses overdubbing effectively, calling and responding to his own lines. The whole album is truly eclectic, spanning funk, blues and freer excursions. His song "Howlin For Judy" is the source of the main sample in the 1994 Beastie Boys' single "Sure Shot" and "Legwork" remains one of the high points of Steig's recorded work.
The album liner mentions Jeremy's "vaulting energy and irrepressible creativeness," and states that by the time this album was released in 1969, Jeremy had played with Jim Hall, Freddie Redd, Paul Winter, Paul Bley, Tony Scott, David Amram and Bill Evans. He had also played with Jimi Hendrix, the Jefferson Airplane, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Paul Butterfield, Elvin Bishop, Earth Opera, Buddy Miles, the Flying Burrito Brothers and James Cotton. He was an accomplished flutist who had played in jazz clubs and rock halls from Fillmore East and West, Copenhagen, Munich, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris and London.
