Top quality reissue of a very rare 1971 LP.  I guess anyone reading this will know the history of the band, starting as the Churchills in Israel and producing one of the world’s most sought after psychedelic albums before issuing this album as Jericho Jones and finally shortening their name to Jericho in order to make one of the very best hard rock albums ever.  This album is closer to the intelligent, melodic hard rock of Jericho with good songs and some really savage guitar.

As with most Akarma reissues this is actually a higher quality item than the original issue.  The gatefold sleeve is reproduced on high quality thick card and the record itself has the original LP pressed over three sides of the double LP, the fourth side contains 5 bonus tracks which weren’t on the original album and those tracks alone make this an essential purchase, even for those fortunate enough to own a nice original copy.

Cover:

High quality thick card gatefold in excellent condition.  The printing is really beautiful with a deep rich gold background and bright red writing, the photo doesn’t really do this any kind of justice (mainly due to the limitations of my camera).

The front is extremely clean with no tears, no writing, no creases.  There are a couple of extremely small white dots on the sleeve, no idea what’s caused these, if they were larger I’d suspect them to be some type of sticker tear but as it is I think they must be scratches of some kind, anyway they are literally dots and depending on the angle of the light you may not even notice them, look at the photo and try to spot them!  Those apart there’s no wear or damage of any type other than a very light circular indentation where the record sits, not ringwear though, just a very slight raising of the card.

The rear sleeve is also in very nice shape, again it’s extremely clean with no tears, no writing, no creases.  There’s a tiny patch of white residue in the bottom right corner where a sticker has been removed, this isn’t a tear though, the sticker’s glue has just left a white mark on the middle A of the Akarma logo.  Again there’s the beginnings of a very slight circular indentation where the records sit.

Inside the gatefold is just perfect.

The top seam is totally unworn.

The bottom seam is virtually unworn, just a tiny amount of light wear near the junction with the spine.

The spine is clean and unworn, all of the writing is clearly readable.

The open edge is sharp and well defined with no tears or feathering.  

Records:

The two disc are made from high quality very thick vinyl and have both been played half a dozen times each at most.  The vinyl on both is  extremely clean and both have retained a lovely dark sheen.  Viewed in normal light there isn’t one single surface mark to be seen on either disc and even when examined closely under a very harsh lamp there are still no marks to be seen.

When played both discs sound great.  Both sit perfectly flat on the turntable with no hint of any warping or unevenness.  The sound quality is excellent throughout giving the music a very dynamic feel, there’s a deep driving bass, the higher frequencies are clear and clean.  These are discs which were manufactured to be played loud (and they were!), when that happens it feels as if the music is just leaping from the speakers and that great fuzz guitar sound is fantastic.  I didn’t notice any  hint of any unwanted surface noise on either disc, no pops, clicks or crackles, no groovewear or distortion, certainly no jumping or sticking just great music reproduced to a very enjoyable standard.  

So, the cover has a couple of very minor flaws but the condition of the actual records is fine.  Obviously, this is a reissue and therefore not as desirable as an original A&M copy but even if you have an original copy this version is still an essential addition to your collection because of the extra five tracks.

All records will be sent housed in PVC sleeves with the records removed from the outer covers.  The packaging will be strong and adequate enough to protect the record well on it’s journey.  Although I haven’t been that active on ebay (mainly cos I hate using computers) I’ve bought and sold records all over the world for over 30 years now and never had any complaints of records being damaged in transit.
