Description
I bought this about 15 years ago ( only studio recording of Sugaree that I know of) and my only regret at the time was that I did not stock up on the other Test pressing LPs just like this that they were offering at the time like MARS HOTEL and many other Grateful Dead LPs up to that date. The Sound is PHENOMINAL! I have had it displayed on a wall behind my Console TV along with other rarities and Laser Disc Covers in a clear record bag and have only a very few times brought it down to play when I wanted to hear Sugaree . It was not in a place where it could be touched or touched by sunlight at all. The Wheel is the LP name according to the insert with track timings. I didn't know that , I thought it was "Garcia". Another "insert" is the CD cover ready for your CD COPY IF YOU DECIDE TO BURN ONE ( no CD included). As the photos show all cover art is loose and not attached to the LP cover . I have the cover art on the front and the "inserts" displayed in the sleeve as the "back cover" , but you can just as easily slip them inside the cover (thus the term "inserts") I don't think you'll be disappointed ! I'll put this up for auction with a buy it now price and see what the market does with it.
If you're looking for a great present for that Grateful Dead FAN in your life ... I think this would be a winner. The song Sugaree was a concert favorite , but the Original Studio Version of this song was sourced from this album. Garcia was quite the legend. I saw the dead 3 times with Garcia and they were really cool concerts. They Played one song longer than Chuck Berry would play a whole concert if no one was up and dancing ! ( I saw him in a sit down Jazz Society once) But in a Huge double bar..watch Out! He played forever.
I am downsizing my collection a bit, so keep your eyes out for other gems as well . Grading is by GOLDMINE STANDARD so I try to grade conservatively
Vinyl: NM- Cover:VG+ (test pressing number hand written in corner) Cover Art: VG+ ( Loose Cover Art ) Inserts: VG+ ( Extra cover Art small & Printed Track Listing) Vinyl Inner Sleeve : Audiophile
I will pull the Vinyl out of the cover and combine them in a sleeve to pack snugly in a mailer to protect the binding of the edge
