Jethro Tull: A Passion Play - LP 180g Vinyl
"A Passion Play" is a concept (monothematic) album released by Jethro Tull. Musically, it resembles the album "Thick as a Brick", its theme this time is the posthumous spiritual journey of man. One track (actually a mixture of shorter songs) is split on two sides of a vinyl LP, a particularly eccentric piece called "The Story Of The Hare Who Lost His Spectacles", which is inspired by the contemporary absurd humor and obviously has nothing to do with the rest of the work. Obscure verses, filled with puns and allegories, along with highly complicated and challenging music, made "A Passion Play" one of the most discussed records released by Jethro Tull. At the time of its release in 1973, the album received mostly negative criticism, although it sold very well and reached number one in the US charts (although it only reached 13th place in the UK). To this day, Jethro Tull fans are arguing over the value of this album.
