Description
JETHRO TULL - THICK AS A BRICK'
This, their 5th studio album, was a concept album built around a poem written by a fictitious boy, "Gerald Bostock" a.k.a. "Little Milton" (Ian Anderson himself). It featured only one song, lasting nearly 45 minutes.
This outstanding example is a UK 1st pressing dating from March 1972 release on the green Chrysalis label: CHR 1003
Being a very early copy, both labels carry the 'Basing St..' address and white 'i' logo on the rims.
Matrix numbers: CHR 1003 A-3U & CHR 1003 B-2U
'PORKY' & 'PECKO' are inscribed into each run-out respectively.
Stamper codes: 1/H & 1/L
Disc weight: 152g
The disc is housed within a matt newspaper design, fold-out cover printed by the 'E.J.Day Group'
Complete with its original plain 'Patent No..' white inner-sleeve.
CONDITION
Disc
Labels: MINT
A perfect pair with no spindle marks around either immaculate centre hole.
Visual: NEAR MINT
Pristine deep-gloss playing surfaces which are MINT & totally unmarked in strong daylight and reveal just a few barely visible wispy paper hairlines directly beneath my unforgiving halogen desk lamp.
Play: NEAR MINT
This superb sounding copy has received just a few careful plays on high-end equipment and my single careful play-check at volume could find no trace of any groove/play wear to any track or any other . In fact, apart from a few faint, dull pops at the beginning of the 1st track on side 1 due to a tiny pin-head sized bump in the vinyl itself, there is nothing to fault on either side of this great sounding copy.
Cover: EXCELLENT
An extremely respectable example of this fragile and easily worn cover. It remains clean and white overall with just some minor storagewear & discolouration to the spine, front fold and a little to the edges. However, but there are no tears, splits or any other significant or major faults anywhere. All inside pages are clean, undamaged and still attached to the staples. Even the dot-to-dot on page 6 has not been completed.
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +
Clean & flat with just the inevitable light disc impression but no writing, seam splits or tears.
**PLEASE NOTE: This item is located in and will be shipped from AUSTRIA. Priority signed for airmail postage to UK addresses will be 7 GBP**
