Description
Jethro Tull Stand Up original pink Island 'eye' label ILPS 9103.
THE RECORD: The vinyl has scratches and other marks on both sides, some are feelable but small, and this does cause quite a bit of crackle and slight surface noise here and there (more noticeable in quiet sections - for instance, early on in the track "Nothing Is Easy" there's some noticeable noise there at the start but which soon gives way to the music as the whole band comes in), though on the louder tracks they are not too overpowering. With these original deeper-grooved pressings the music still shines through for the most part!
I'm giving this one last test-play as I'm typing this (on my Audio Technica AT-LP5x turntable) and although it's crackly it's still very playable and enjoyable, and plays through without jumps or sticking.
The labels are nice and clean and free of stickers or writing, aside from one or two slight marks on the side 2 label.
THE SLEEVE: The front sadly has two surface tears in the top right-hand corner, probably caused by price stickers being peeled off at some time, but otherwise the rest of the sleeve is in really nice condition. Some slight marking on the back but mainly very clean. The centre gatefold is in great condition with the pop-up fully intact. Slight wear on the edges and corners (but a lot better than you often see on these 1969 pressings!) no split edges, and a fully-readable spine.
All in all, not a bad copy, great in some ways, could be better in others, so I'd say that averages it out to a VG copy overall.
