Extremely rare MINT 1972 UK first pressing LP, pressed by Island with the 'i' logo on the labels, in superb fold-out thick card newspaper picture sleeve. The sleeve displays minimal edge scuffing or discolouration (it looks just like an old newspaper), with the vinyl immaculate. A spectacular copy of this very hard to find first pressing.
Highly desirable for its A-3U/B-2U matrices (this is the original cut), thick card sleeve and mint condition, and increasingly difficult to find in even reasonable condition, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity to add this extreme rarity to your collection at an extremely advantageous price.

The LP is the original UK 1972 issue stereo LP, which was only played occasionally on top-end audiophile equipment and lovingly cared for.

Thick as a Brick is the fifth studio album by the British progressive rock band Jethro Tull. Released in 1972, the album includes only one song, the title track, which spans the entire album. Thick as a Brick was deliberately crafted in the style of a concept album (and as a "bombastic" and "over the top" parody). The original packaging, designed like a newspaper, claims the album to be a musical adaptation of an epic poem by a (fictional) 8-year-old boy, though the lyrics were actually written by the band's frontman, Ian Anderson.
Thick as a Brick was Jethro Tull's first deep progressive rock offering, coming four years after the release of their first album. The epic album is notable for its many musical themes, time signature changes and tempo shifts—all of which were features of the progressive rock scene which was emerging at the time. In addition, the instrumentation includes harpsichord, xylophone, timpani, violin, lute, trumpet, saxophone, and a string section—all uncommon in blues-based rock.

Jethro Tull's first LP-length epic is a masterpiece in the annals of progressive rock, and one of the few works of its kind that still holds up decades later. Mixing hard rock and English folk music with classical influences, set to stream-of-consciousness lyrics so dense with imagery that one might spend weeks pondering their meaning – assuming one feels the need to do so – the group created a dazzling tour de force, at once playful, profound, and challenging, without overwhelming the listener. The original LP (offered here) was the best-sounding, best-engineered record Tull had ever released, easily capturing the shifting dynamics between the soft all-acoustic passages and the electric rock crescendos surrounding them.

A fantastic time warp example of this rarity in amazing condition, a true investment grade item - get it while you can!
