Description
A rare opportunity to own an amazing audiophile hifi system test record. Great for testing macro dynamics and symbol/treble definition.
An original copy of 'The Sheffield Drum Record' by Jim Keltner and Ron Tutt. This is a 1981, USA 1st edition pressing LAB14. I bought this test record on release and have only played it two or three times using a high quality playback system.
As you would imagine, the sound quality is as good as it gets – very useful for assessing the quality of high value music playback systems, particularly their ability to reproduce the extreme low end response of a real drum kit. Groove spacing and depth are very impressive – surface marks will never be a problem. Bass impact is hugely impressive if your system is good enough. If you're looking for a test record, this is a must have!
As you can see, the condition of the outer cover and inner liner listening notes is excellent. The vinyl is in near mint condition. This record has been professionally cleaned using a SME/Loricraft record cleaning machine.

According to the standard LP/vinyl 'goldmine scale' I would conservatively classify the condition of each element as follows:
Outer sleeve overall = Very Good+ (VG+) - The front is in excellent condition with a bright shine. There are 3 indent marks that are clearly visible but do not detract from the sleeve's overall good quality (see pic). - The open edge is in good condition. - The back is in excellent condition with a little ring wear at the bottom (see pic) - Entire sleeve is made from thick cardboard and protects this test disk very well.
Outer sleeve spine = Very Good (VG) - The spine has some minor tear damage (see pics)
Inner Sleeves = Very Good+ (VG+) - A protective paper/poly sleeve.
Inner Sleeves = Mint/Near Mint (NM) - Sides 1,and 2 are near mint.
Vinyl = Near Mint/Vergy Good+ (NM/VG+) - Excellent, near new condition.
- IMPORTANT. There are two groove aligned surface marks on side a (1/2 and 3/4 of the way through). These marks are NOT audible on my system using an Ortofon Kontrapunkt B fg80 (MC) and an AT Shibata (MM) stylii.
