Description
Jimi Hendrix "Are You Experienced" Reprise R 6261 [M] Released 1967 Cover and record in VG+ condition. I bought this record when I was 17 years old and I really hate to part with it. I was in a band called "The Four O'Clock Balloon" when I was in high school in Columbus, Ohio. We opened for the one and only Jimi Hendrix concert at Veterans Memorial Hall in Columbus, Ohio on March 3, 1968. The concert was on a Sunday at 7:30 PM. Tickets were 3, 4, and 5 dollars. Hard to believe with today's ticket prices. We were the first band to open, the Dantes second, The Soft Machine third and then Jimi Hendrix. I was scared to death because the concert was sold out. When the curtains opened all I saw was people and I felt like running. Somehow I played and didn't make a mistake that night. I think I was too nervous to make a mistake. When Hendrix played I stood about six feet away from him, just far enough so the audience couldn't see me. He blew me away, I had never seen anyone play a guitar like that before. All this sound coming out of a wall of amplifiers and it looked like it was so easy to him. There's a site on the web that bio's the Four O'Clock Balloon and I'm the high school student playing lead guitar.http://www.buckeyebeat.com/index.html Click on F and read about the Four O'Clock Balloon. Now I don't think this information makes this album worth anymore but it'll be a nice story to tell friends when you show them the record.
