Up for auction from my personal collection is this great second album by the Jimi Hendrix Experience. Please note I will put more interesting obscure lots up for sale in the coming weeks.
Usually only found on later shiny re-issue Track labels or as a a 1980's mid-budget priced double LP , this record is impossible to find on the original 'matt textured' UK 1st press Track Record Mono labels. The labels are EX, superb with NO Peeling, NO Lifting NO Grubbiness and NO unwanted writing/scribbles of any kind. Just the most minor light spindle lines!!!
Vinyl: VG to VG+. The quality thick & chunky Mono 1st press vinyl looks and sounds absolutely stunning, it weighs a ton!!! And remember - this is the earliest Mono 1st press, straight from the master, it therefore sounds much louder, defined and punchy than all the weaker Polydor re-pressings. Although this vinyl has quite a few hairlines and one heavier mark, the replay is just great!!! It it has NO jumps, NO skips, just some between the tracks crackle and NO nasty loud pops!!! There is just some crackle on the run-ins that all but disappears when the record kicks in, and can just occasionally be heard as very light occasional static and in between tracks, but less so as each side progresses. The thick quality pressed chunky vinyl looks and feels great (it is very heavy!). Even though there are visible lines and the vinyl is visually VG, one will be pleasantly surprised with the replay, which is closer to EX.
Sleeve: VG+. The Gorgeous David King & Roger Law designed - ORIGINAL E.J. DAY FLIPBACK GATEFOLD SLEEVE is in nice CONDITION. The flip-backs are also in nice condition. On the spine there is a small split near the centre. The famous psychedelic E.J. Day outer still has ALL ITS ORIGINAL GLOSSY LAMINATED FEEL!!! NO major creases, just some "mini" edge creases. Small corner "bumps". NO writing, NO tears, NO marks, one dealer stamp on the inside gatefold. All in all a strong VG+
This still retains the elusive orange lyric inner, so often missing. Although clearly used, with handling creases all text is fully legible. There is NO writing and NO marks. There is a small split on the faultline in the middle.
Not much else to say really except don't miss this one as you will NOT FIND ANOTHER UK MONO 1ST PRESS COPY OF THIS AWESOME AND VERY RARE LP IN THIS CONDITION AGAIN. THIS RECORD - IN THIS CONDITION AND COMPLETE WITH THE MEGA RARE LYRIC INSERT - IS EXTREMELY HARD TO GET HOLD OF NOWADAYS. THIS RECORD IS RIGHTLY KNOWN AS ONE OF THE BEST PSYCHEDELIC ROCK ALBUMS EVER MADE!!!! AND A COMPLETE 1ST UK PRESSING SUCH AS THIS IS A VERY SOUGHT-AFTER RECORD AND A VERY SERIOUS INVESTMENT FOR THE FUTURE!
Please mark that this is not a Mint record, just a very good example of a real classic. Just to re-iterate, this vinyl does have lines/marks but plays through without any skips, jumps or sticks. The audio, again, defies the visual condition of the vinyl!!
