Description

Hello, I am a long-time eBay seller - since October, 1999.  I have a 100% feedback record, so bid and buy with confidence.  I have collected records for many years and every record I offer comes from my personal collection.  The grade I specify for the vinyl is based upon a playback as well as a visual inspection.  The grade I assign for the cover and inserts (if any) is based upon a close visual inspection.  My grading standards are conservative - I believe that it does no one any good to inflate the grade of the record only to have the buyer be disappointed upon receipt and wish to return it.  I offer a full, no-questions-asked return policy on every record I sell except in very rare circumstances.  In those rare cases, I clearly state the condition of the record and explain why I cannot accept a return on it.
For sale today is a great copy of the Axis Bold as Love album by The Jimi Hendrix Experience issued in 1967.  What makes this album extraordinarily special is that it is in the mono format as a United States release on the original Reprise label.  Mono was being phased out in 1967 and only a very small number of the Axis Bold as Love albums were issued as a US pressing in the mono format.  I think that it is entirely fair to state that this is the rarest Hendrix album in existence, that is only very rarely offered for sale.  One sold about three weeks ago on eBay (for $2700) and before that album was offered, I had not seen one available in over four years.
As to condition, the vinyl conservatively looks VG++ but plays Near Mint.  As to appearance, the vinyl retains a shine and gloss, and the grooves are sharp and clear.  I grade it VG++ only because there are a few stray marks and lines.  As to sound quality, it plays fantastic!  Only the rare pop or tick, if that.  It really plays beautifully and hard to believe it is 52+ years old.
The outer cover is in conservative VG++ condition.  The colors and graphics are full and vibrant, front and back.  All corners are sharp and square.  Spine is full and complete.  All seams are fully intact, no splits.  No bends or folds to the cover or corners.  Only issues are some rubbing along all seams, some rubbing at the corners, and the front of the cover has some gray/blackish/tarnish which appears to be age related.  I'm guessing there was some rubbing to the front of the cover, which then aged over the years.  But, to me, this issue is not significant and does not interfere with the overall appearance of the cover (see photos, blackish marks best seen in the photo of the album in its fully open, elongated position).  I also note that on the back cover, towards the upper left corner, there is a small circular imprint mark (see photo).  I am not sure what caused this (maybe a mark by a prior owner with unknown significance?) but it is not distracting or unsightly.
The labels are in Mint shape.
There is no inner sleeve.  However, since I purchased this album years ago, I have stored the vinyl in an archival inner sleeve, which I then placed in a separate cardboard cover to best protect both the vinyl as well as the original outer sleeve (see photo).
I am pricing this album at $3000 due to: (1) its extreme rarity and (2) the example that sold on eBay about three weeks ago was overall of somewhat lesser quality and it closed at $2700.
My postage amount is higher than normal because I will send the album priority mail with signature of receipt required.
All in all, a great example of this extremely rare mono issue by the Jimi Hendrix Experience!  This album has been one of the cornerstones of my record collection and I am sure the buyer will be very pleased to own it.  Thanks for looking.
