Description
For sale is an original 1967 pressing of Jimi Hendrix's Axis Bold as Love in Stereo on the Track Label complete with it's original lyric insert. It's from my father's collection who says a friend got it for him for his Christmas in 1967 at which was only a few weeks after it was released and it since it was on Antiques Roadshow last month he thought it was about time to let it go.
The cover is in Very Good- condition. There is general wear and tear in most places including small creases, corner rubbing, edge wear and feathering to open edges but it is intact and has no seam splits.
The record is in Very Good condition, it doesn't look the best in the world but plays very well with some light to heavy background noise on the quieter tracks. Side 2 is better with less background noise. When I played it there were no skips which is always a good sign. Pressed on thick period-heavy vinyl as they all should be.
Labels are Excellent with usual spindle traces
Lyric insert is Very Good- you might just be able to see its condition in the photos but there are a few creases and a medium size seam split down the middle of it which gives it the minus on grading. It still folds perfectly and has no pen or other rips.
The stereo copy is hard to find these days and in my opinion is the one for real fans since you need stereo to get the 'experience' of all the crazy guitar and drum phasing on the album. After all, it is The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Try playing the 'Castles Made of Sand' solo backwards on your turntable to hear what it originally sounded like; it's pretty cool stuff for a 46 year old album.
