It's hard to believe: It's been 50 years since Jimi Hendrix published the legendary »Electric Ladyland«. In 2018, to coincide with the anniversary, the extended 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition will be available on six LPs plus Blu-ray.
"Electric Ladyland" is the third studio album by the American guitarist, composer and singer and his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was originally released on Jan. October 1968 and is still one of the most important albums in rock history.
For the new edition, the album has now been completely remastered by Bernie Grundman, from the original analog tapes.
In addition, there are some “early takes” waiting for “Electric Ladyland - 50th Anniversary Deluxe Edition”: 20 previously unreleased demos and studio outtakes. Some are intimate demos for song ideas that Hendrix himself recorded on tape at the Drake Hotel. Highlights also include early recording sessions with guest appearances by Buddy Miles, Stephen Stills and Al Kooper.
The fifth and sixth LP contain the concert recording "The Jimi Hendrix Experience: Live At The Hollywood Bowl 9/14/68", the soundboard recording of a concert that took place a few weeks before the release of "Electric Ladyland".
Last but not least, a 5.1 surround mix of the album and the documentary "At Last ... The Beginning: The Making Of Electric Ladyland" await on the Blu-ray.
