Description
The Jimi Hendrix Experience In 1967 (Rare 1991 UK limited edition 12" picture box including a superb large glossy 72-page softback photo book featuring previously unreleased photographs by Gered Mankowitz and an individually hand numbered certificate AUTOGRAPHED by BOTH the late Noel Redding and Gered Mankowitz. This was a limited edition of only 2500 in the world. This is edition 60. I've never seen one this low in the run up for sale.
I bought this item new in 1991. I had 5 copies to choose from and so I made sure I picked the lowest numbered edition I could, number 60. I have collected Hendrix vinyl, CDs and memorabilia for many years but over the past few years I've started to sell off my collection. I'll be sad to see it go but it would be better off in the hands of somebody who still has the passion for collecting. I met Noel Redding back on September 18th 1992 when he played two gigs back to back at King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow with Randy Hansen. The gigs were supposed to be two days apart and at different venues but a last minute change meant they played them both in the one night. I was at the front of the stage for both gigs and when Noel spotted that I was also at the second gig he smiled and waved. We spoke afterwards and he signed his autograph for me. That's one piece of memorabilia that I'm keeping.
Like most collectors, I preferred to keep things pristine. The book has lain in its box for 25 years, as has the certificate. I already had at least 5 copies of Axis Bold As Love in various formats so didn't need to play this one. The only blemishes I can see at all are a couple of very minor bumps to the cardboard exterior. I'm talking about millimetres here. One at the base, one near the bottom left and one at the top right. You really have to be looking to find them but I'm pointing them out to make sure I describe this item as truthfully as possible.
