Jimi Hendrix – ‘Hendrix Alive’ – (rare original coloured vinyl double album)
This is an original copy of a seriously rare Jimi Hendrix double set, purchased by myself in the early 1970s. Please note the very unusual vinyl colours; the first disc (sides 1 and 2) is green with pink labels, the second disc (sides 3 and 4) is yellow with orange labels. Comes in a rubber-stamped sleeve, which I believe is the rarer format.Condition: The records have been played only a handful of times over the years and both are in excellent to near mint condition with only some light scuffs from the inner sleeves. I dare say a better copy of this set would be nigh on impossible to find, close to forty years after its release!
The sleeve shows some discolouration and ring wear but is basically intact, save for an eight-centimeter (3.1 inches) seam split at the bottom. There is also some fraying at the edges (please see scans).
As anyone reading this will know, this live recording took place at the L.A. Forum on April 25, 1970. Accompanying Jimi Hendrix were Billy Cox (bass) and Mitch Mitchell (drums). This is the track listing:

As a curious aside, the inner sleeve of the first album offers a typed (incomplete) track listing; after ‘Spanish Castle Magic’ and ‘Foxey Lady’ [sic] comes the title ‘The Cat Didn’t Have To Get His Parachutes Again’ (please see scan). I’ve no idea where this title originated, but it is intriguing, particularly when you consider the fact that Hendrix was a parachute jumper in the army.
