This box set containing Jimi Hendrix’s performance and Woodstock was issued on three 200g LPs by Classic Records. Each record is housed in a separate sleeve with photos from Jimi’s performance. Also included is a 7” white vinyl single with “Iszbella” and “Message To The Universe” which was recorded one week after Woodstock with the same Band of Gypsies at New York’s Hit Factory with Eddie Kramer. The records are all mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog master tapes. The records are in excellent condition. I bought the set new from Classic Records when it was released. I have cleaned it with a VPI record cleaner and an Audio Desk ultrasonic record cleaner, treated it with LAST record preservative, and demagnetized it with a Furutech DeMag. The LPs play with very little surface noise. The 7” single is a bit noiser with some crackling. The set also includes a 36 page 12” x 12” booklet packed with extra photos and interviews with Eddie Kramer, Mitch Mitchell, Billy Cox and other members of the Band of Gypsies. This booklet is more expanded than the one that I have with my copy that was released a number of years ago by Experience Hendrix on MCA records. There is also a replica of a Woodstock ticket and a “Commemorative Guitar Pick”. All of the records, booklet, and extras are housed in a large box. The set is in “like-new” condition except that it has been cleaned, demagnetized and played twice.
The songs include: Introduction, Message to Love, Hear My Train a Comin’, Spanish Castle Magic, Red House, Lover Man, Foxey Lady, Jam Back at the House, Izabella, Fire, Voodo Child (Slight Return), Star Spangled Banner, Purple Haze, Woodstock Improvisation, Villanova Junction, and Hey Joe.
