WOODSTOCK Original rock festival 1970

THE very first issue of this monumental classic release with earliest mother stampers . IMPOSSIBLE to locate nowadays and a must have for the serious vinyl collector!!!

Various Artists JIMI Hendrix, THE WHO, Canned Heat, TEN YEARS AFTER, Jefferson Airplane,Ritchie Havens, Arlo guthrie, SANTANA, SHA-NA-NA, Sly and the family Stone, John B Sebastian , CROSBY, NASH STILLS & Young, Butterfield Blues Band, Country Joe and The Fish, Joe McDonald, JOE COCKER….What a phenomenal line up and all heard as live performances during the greatest and most famous rock festival in history.

The recording of the music at Woodstock was a challenge of unprecedented scope and complexity requiring a level of endurance from both man and machine, previously unheard of in location recording !!! ! The music and sounds in this album were selected from 64 reels of 8 track tape over a period of three and a half days, in three, continuous, 18 hour sessions. Technical flaws, resulting from an equipment failure, as well as human overload, were inevitable ,in a venture of that size. Some of these hitches are included in this album, but this is the proof of the origin and authenticity of the material.

And what a HUGE musical presentation this is. THE best artists like THE WHO and HENDRIX heard as they did all those years ago. If one shuts ones eyes, one can imagine that you are actually there. The greatest pop festival ever created. One of the most famous events in rock history and this album could be yours to own, and lies tantalisingly in your grasp…

The album is a three record set-THE very first pressing of this huge album release. This presentation gives all and replicates those hippy days in sensational style. Epitomises the heavy sixties/seventies eras with druggy references and the familiar jargon to be used in those days such as..love and peace man etc. What a sensational collector’s item on offer here.

Highlight of the festival for me and on this album is the awesome Hendrix fix, where he spontaneously displays one of his best stage performances. There is almost 20 minutes or so where Hendrix makes love to his guitar in tremendous style. Hear the feedback from the mega loud speakers… his slurred vocals… the screeching of his electric guitar strings…the raw talent and genius that enthuses from his unrehearsed performance..Please do not miss. You must hear as it is unforgettable. Absolutely awesome, man!

Album sleeve

1st issue triple complex gatefold sleeve. Heavy card manufacture. Wear on top/ lower spine/corners. Matt finish. TOP opener ,confirming the very earliest issue. Very good condition. Matt finish so prone to wear but this one is really fantastic. Some damage on mid spinal column but nothing else to fault. Small yellow circlular sticker on reverse face .E J Day printed. The three internal ,fold centre is excellent.

The three white inner sleeves are poly lined . The central edges are slightly torn but seams are tight. Very good condition.

((((Audio))))

Recordings were difficult but atmosphere is conveyed beautifully .  At least very good aural delivery with some static/light audible scratches heard occasionally .

The finale of the festival is the Star Spangled banner played by Hendrix and just about sums up this musical masterpiece. When I listened to this on my new Project turntable, shivers went up and down my spine. Certainly a must have for the serious vinyl collector as it reflects the sixties era in all its glory and this album is graced with some of the best rock groups/solo artists of its time.

An historic example, of the most famous rock festival ever staged, which brought thousands of hippies/ rockers from all over the globe to attend this mass gathering.

I am sure you will all dig it, man !
