Description
Unbelievably scarce and very probably unique...try finding another pair...or even a mention of another pair anywhere out there, I`ve tried, no luck....four superb tracks lifted from the USA Contemporary C3529 release "Pub Crawling with Jimmy Deuchar".....featuring Tubby Hayes, Derek Humble, Victor Feldman and others,,,,on two 10" vinyl platters....please view pictures.....
Tracks are.... Disc One....`IPA Special` and `Treble Gold`....... Disc Two,.... `Bass House` and `Final Selection`
These 4 tracks were released in the UK on the Tempo label, LAP 2 in 1955 on a single 4 track 10" mini album .....Which the two discs above are undoubtedly the test pressings for... These two 10" vinyl`s show signs of play but no glaring scratches or obvious hairlines ....just light paper wisps....the backs of discs are un-labeled and un-pressed though when placing a needle on wax you get a constant low electronic hum,,,,,,,,,
Matrix runouts are VMG.143-2B and VMG 144-2B......both discs play at 33/3rd RPM....
Sound is excellent with some light pops in a section of `Treble Gold`....Other than that a superb sounding pair of records and so rare in this form....wonderful clear sounding playback, the intro`s...always a tell tale indicator how a record as been treated...are clear and unscathed by the passage of time or wear...super hiss free sounding mid tempo "cool" Modern Brit jazz...

Here`s some info gleaned of the interweb regarding Tempo matrix numbers.....thanks to Londonjazzcollector.
"Tempo runout with “VGMT” matrix codes the same style as Vogue and Contemporary Vogue, indicating they were pressed by Decca, New Malden. A dealer once told me Decca mastered jazz records on the same lathes used for classical music, reflecting the greater sensitivity required for mastering complex orchestral works and not three-chord tricks from the Pop music Division. Possibly true, or a vinyl myth"
OK not "VMG" like mine offered but very close....perhaps another pressing plant or different number due to them being test presses...or one unknown to the jazz buffs out there....

UPDATE.....After a query regarding edge of vinyl...I can confirm that they both have dead straight untapered cut edges...see last, new picture...and no there is no sleeve, just generic paper 12" inner with text info in blue biro written on it....See pic 5....for convenience/practical reasons they are both housed in Decca classical 10" sleeves........hope this helps.
