Description
This is the rare original Van Gelder-stamped mono pressing of Jimmy Smith “Open House” on the Liberty labels of Blue Note BLP 4269. The playing surface is in new condition, with a beautiful luster; perhaps played once. The coated New York 10019 cover is in near-new condition - bright and clean throughout; two tiny nicks on the top seam, near the spine; 1/8” wear on the bottom seam, at the opening; “MONO” sticker at the upper left corner of the front. Liberty inner sleeve is included. Personnel include Jackie McLean, Blue Mitchell, and Ike Quebec. “Open House” is one of only seventeen issues that Blue Note pressed in special mono versions for radio stations that had not yet converted to stereo transmission. $75.00.
