 Here is the OUT-OF-PRINT Mosaic 5 lp set (# MQ5-154) The Complete Feb. 1957 Jimmy Smith Blue Note Sessions. The set is # 2294 of 5000 pressed. These notable early Smith sessions were recorded on Feb.11-13, 1957 and include performances by Donald Byrd, Lou Donaldson, Hank Mobley, Art Blakey, Kenny Burrell, Eddie McFadden and Donald Bailey. Two of the sessions are trios and include some notable solo selections by Smith. Tunes include "Billie's Bounce", "Yardbird Suite","All The Thins You Are", "Cherokee", "How HighThe Moon", several notable standards and straight ahead blues jams. These sessions produced orignal  Blue Note albums such as A Date With Jimmy Smith (in 2 volumes) and Jimmy Smith At The Organ (also in 2 volumes) and The Sounds of Jimmy Smith.The set also includes 3 previously unissud tracks. This set is a great look at not only Smith's early career but also at the origins of the fast rising popularity of the Hammond B3 in jazz. This set is pressed on Mosaic's 180 gram vinyl and of course includes the ever-informative book with essays and session descriptions by Bob Blumenthal,great photos, and the detailed discography of the three sessions.

 I am the original owner of the set and it has been played at most 3 or 4 times. I would rate the set as excellent (near-mint ?) with ONE caveat. Record Three Side A, Track One (the Gershwin song "Somebody Loves Me") has a visiable scratch (that also goes into about 30 seconds of track 2 "Plum Nellie"). While this does produce a faintly audible "tick" (at least when listened through headphones) it doesn't, in my opinion anyway, markedly detract from enjoying the music. It looks worse than it sounds. As I take very good care of my lps, I suspect it may have come like this from Mosaic. Other than that, there are no notable marks or smudges, and the remainder of the set plays fine. While the lps don't lie perfectly flat (for you vinyl nit-pickers), I wouldn't say any of the lps are "warped".  They play perfectly with no wow- or-flutter of any kind. If you have a clamp-down system on your turntable, they lie perfectly flat. Am just trying to be as accurate as possible, since I understand the concern of many vinyl collectors (I'm one myself). The booklet is is fine shape, no tears or creases. The box is also in perfect shape,sturdy, no tears or torn edges, just as it came from Mosaic.
