Description

An absolute holy grail of live rock history: an original 1970 U.S. first pressing copy of Joe Cocker's landmark live double album, Mad Dogs & Englishmen, completely factory sealed in its original shrink-wrap.
Released in August 1970 under the premier A&M Records banner (catalog number SP-6002), this live spectacular captures the absolute zenith of 1970s blues-rock, soul-revival, and big-band rock energy. Finding a 2-LP set from 1970 completely untouched, unplayed, and flawlessly preserved inside its tight original factory shrink-wrap for over five decades is a monumental rarity for serious rock historians and vinyl archivists.
Recorded on March 27–28, 1970, at New York’s historic Fillmore East, Mad Dogs & Englishmen is widely celebrated as one of the greatest live albums ever cut to vinyl. Assembled in a frantic eight days by musical director Leon Russell after Joe Cocker's original band dissolved, the tour featured an incredible 36-piece big-band rock ensemble, including rock legends like Chris Stainton, Rita Coolidge, and elite session drummers Jim Gordon and Jim Keltner.
The album was a runaway commercial triumph, yielding massive radio hits like "The Letter" and "Cry Me a River"
