soundclip of three tracks
It’s always annoyed me that Joe is always described as a great British tenor whereas the truth is that he was a great tenor full stop.
This is one hell of rare LP but it does have a few defects. So lets go through them starting with the –
COVER
Well the first thing is pretty obvious-there’s a chunk missing from the top right. As you can see there is also a tear that runs down from the missing chunk
which has sellotape covering it.
There is also a piece of sellotape on the edge of the cover-exactly why I am not sure.
On the back the cellulose has peeled away at several points.
The bottom right hand flip cover has been damaged and repaired with our old friend sellotape.
RECORD
As is always my policy the soundclips are there to show defects and I always strat with the worst one first.
The record still has lots of shine along with a few hairlines
But there are a few scratches. Most notably with the opening track
Please listen to this track as there seem to be tiny skips.
Track 2 on the sound clip is the opening track on side 2-any disturbance is really limited to background sound.
Track 3 on the sound clip is the brilliant Just Goofin’
where there is also a scratch but which doesn’t seem to sound at all.
the label is clean and fresh.
Having said all that it’s such a rare record and although there are the above problems overall it sounds and looks great –apart from track 1-which still plays and the sadly missing chunk.
Due to my camera becoming ill I have done scans instead.
I have also started low because of these problems
