Joe Higgs – ‘Dinah’ / Wailers ‘Habits’ – Studio One (JA)
No introduction necessary. Absolutely superb recording by one of the founding fathers of reggae. Flip is an interesting Wailers tune, featuring the lead vocals of Junior Braithwaite. This is a 1970s pressing, I think, though I believe it uses the same stampers as the 1966 original, at least as far as 'Dinah' is concerned. The matrix numbers are: CS DODD 80 (‘Dinah’), and FC-6477 (‘Habits’), respectively. In any case the sound is rich and full!Condition: Excellent to near mint; beautiful copy (please listen to the sound clips). There are a couple of minor clicks from pressing irregularities, typical Studio One style, but this is nearly as good as it gets. Clean labels (please see scans).
Please note that the slight hum on some of my sound clips comes from my record player’s shaky Earth connection, it is not inherent in the discs.
