FOR SALE:
John Coltrane Ascension LP, MONO Impulse A-95 Edition 1 pressing from 1965. Gatefold, Rudy Van Gelder. Original Orange and Black Impulse label. This was the first release of this album, mistakenly by producer Bob Thiele. Coltrane originally wanted the 1st take printed - this was the 2nd take but the first released pressing. Edition 2 came out later that year with the correctly chosen take.
Condition:
Jacket: VG+ Shows ring wear, shelf wear. Corners are worn, small tear in lower right corners, possible saw mark. Sticker mark on front top right. No split seams. Gloss is still apparent. Jacket inside gatefold shows ring wear, a couple marks on spine, including a small portion of the gloss peeling back. Some wear showing on bottom and mouth edge.
Record: VG+ Some surface scuffs and marks that do not affect play. Sound is great with minimal noise and pops, no skips. Little spindle hole wear.
Grading: EX / VG++ / VG+ / VG / G Record was graded both visually and audibly.
