Description
This is Blue Note Records BST 1577, John Coltrane Blue Train, a blue and white, deep groove (side 2 only) 63rd St. label original stereo issue* of this iconic record with the ear (p) mark and RVG stamped in the dead wax. The record is in G+ / VG- condition showing scratches on both sides that cause much background noise below the music, more pronounced on the ballad. There is a short skip during the trombone solo on Blue Train, and maybe some more at the end of side 1 (if there are, they are hard to spot), however, the record plays with no distortion. The laminated cover, with the 43 West 61st St. New York 23 address and gold Stereo sticker on the front, has a 5" split on the blank spine, some age discoloration on the back as well as a name in pen but is otherwise intact. The labels show spindle marks. An original thumbnail inner sleeve is included. The record was cleaned on a VPI 17 and played on a Linn Sondek LP12. This is still a nice initial "play" grade copy of this classic original Blue Note. I do not usually offer records in this condition, but I've made an exception for this rare piece and I will be listing a few more like this over the next few days.
