Description
John Coltrane Coltrane Plays The Blues 1962 Mono 2nd Press EX/VG+.
For auction is an excellent listeners copy of Coltrane Plays The Blues. This album by the legendary jazz saxophonist was recorded during the My Favorite Things sessions on October 24, 1960 and was released by Atlantic Records in July 1962, after he already left the label. It was the first of three in the early and mid 60s that was released by Atlantic after he had moved to Impulse! records in 1961. This is a 2nd mono press copy released later in 1962 and is on red/white/purple Atlantic labels with black fan. The original press has a white fan.
Vinyl is play graded EX. Some light visible surface marks but all superficial. Shiny! Plays with the faintest of background noise if any. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.
Cover is in VG+ condition. It has a glossy finish on front. Mild shelf wear on corners, most apparent on the open side. Open edge has a slight warp and wear but no splits and all seams are perfect. Title is legible. On back there are very tiny wrinkles on the paste-on, on both top and bottom. There is a small rip in left hand corner of paste-on. Very light ring wear on front and more noticeable on back. Still looks amazing and is super solid! Please see pics.
Good luck bidding and thank you for looking!
