Description

John Coltrane Crescent 1964 Mono 1st Press Impulse A-66 VG-/VG-.

For sale is a good listeners copy of Crescent by American Jazz saxophonist, bandleader and composer, John Coltrane. Released in July 1964, it was the legends eighth record on the Impulse! label. Crescent is considered one of Coltrane’s finest works and features some of his most beloved compositions. Coltrane plays tenor saxophone and is accompanied by his common quartet members, McCoy Tyner (piano), Jimmy Garrison (double bass) and Elvin Jones (drums). This copy is a 1st Mono press.

Vinyl is play graded VG-. Many light visible surface marks but nothing deep that can be felt. Side 1 label has a couple pieces of scotch tape on left side of spindle hole. Plays with consistent background noise of static that is never overwhelming. No skips or jumps. Please see pics.

Gatefold laminated cover is also in VG- condition. There is a piece of tape over a split on the top from open side that is about three inches long. Another split not taped is on the last third of same edge. There is also a split about an inch long on bottom seam. On front of gatefold there is a piece of tape over peeling on upper right side. The title is fully legible although there are two pieces of tape over peeling in center and lower part of title edge. All corners have dents. Lower edge of gatefold front has some peeling laminate. Inside gatefold there are stains on both sides. There is more peeling lamination on back. Despite all this, the cover still looks pretty good and is super solid and protects vinyl. Please see pics.
