Both sides play great considering the rarity of this first STEREO pressing.

Both sides play "excellent", with some light, low-level surface crackle

that's only audible at the intros, outros and between tracks.

It's slightly noticeable during a "quiet" section or intro, but not

audible on most of this side since the music is uptempo

and sonically "busy". The first quarter of side 2 track one,

"I'M OLD FASHIONED" has some random loud-ish clicks,

due to a few barely visible and barely felt marks, and

there are 2 loud-ish clicks during the piano solo and

a few more random clicks as the song winds down,

also audible during the long trumpet solo at the

last third of the tune. So we're "cheating" a bit,

in that the middle of side 2 is VG by strict definition.
This tune has bit more light random crackle, overall,

than the other tracks, plus the above mentioned clicks.
On both sides the highs are crisp and the bass is tight,

and neither side has any other loud pops or clicks and NO skips.

RVG STEREO is machine stamped in the dead-wax and

we also posted close up shots of the a-side dead-wax

inscriptions. On back is

"Blue Note Records Inc., 43 West 63rd St., New York 23"

"High Fidelity" is printed on the jacket with was used for

both the Mono and Stereo versions.

MOST of the Blue Note and Prestige records from this era

were pressed at the long defunct PLASTYLITE

record pressing plant that was located in North Plainfield,

New Jersey. Plastylite is most notably known for pressing

almost ALL of the albums for Blue Note until 1966 when

Alfred Lion sold Blue Note to Liberty.

(They also pressed records for

Prestige, Folkways Records and United Artists Records.

Records from Plastylite can be identified by the cursive "P"

stamped into the deadwax.

(The "P" stamp is also known to collectors as the "ear" mark.)
