Description

John Coltrane ~ Kulu Se Mama  1966 Original, 1st pressing Impulse! Records - A-9106 Stereo  Vinyl is VG+ to VG++, mostly VG++ with faint and minor surface-marks and some very faint and minor surface scratches; some background ticks, clicks and wear between tracks and faintly heard during some quiet passages. Gatefold cover is VG+ with minor corner-bends and wear, minor cover-wear, edge-wear and minor indentations; laminations is partly peeling on the back, left-side. Labels: side 1 is Mint-. Side 2 is VG++ with a minor mark and minor wear around the spindle-hole. Original Impulse inner-sleeve has intact seams. Out of print
"This LP".."features John Coltrane in two different settings. "Vigil" and the spiritual ballad "Welcome" showcase tenor saxophonist Coltrane with his classic quartet (pianist McCoy Tyner, bassist Jimmy Garrison, and drummer Elvin Jones) in June 1965. Dating from October 14, 1965, it adds tenor saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, Donald Garrett on bass clarinet and second bass, second drummer Frank Butler, and percussionist-vocalist Juno Lewis to the quartet and is a bit of an oddity. Lewis' chanting and colorful percussion make this a unique if not essential entry in Coltrane's discography." -ALLMUSIC
