DEBUT DEB-121 Maroon and silver label. Leader, Dennis, piano with Charles Mingus, bass; Max Roach, drums. Original. The label on Side B seems to be slightly peeling. There appears to be some small "bubble pockets" under the label. The other label is firmly attached and the one described also seems secure. It is not unusual for items from this period to have some issues with label attachment. This goes for Transition, Golden Crest and others. Perhaps the adhesives used at that time tended to dry out. There are 2 short black line marks on each label While these are visible they seems minor. This is a very rare record and is historically important as this is early Mingus/Roach recorded performances. There were probably very few of these records pressed. Cover: VG Intact. Some edge and corner wear with some small creases on 1 corner. There is some indication of light, possible water damage. This appears slight with a "stain-like" mark along the spine and bottom edge of the jacket. The jacket does not appear to have "softened" from the water exposure and there is no discoloration or mold markings. There is a very small tear of about 3/4" at the center of the bottom edge. This is slightly visible on the back cover. This, also, seems to be a minor flaw. There are 4 short black marker lines on the back cover and possbily an indication of old price. There is a light impression of a record ring on the the front and back cover. Very slight aging . The general condition is good . There are signs of handling and some aging. Record: VG to VG+ Visually shows no wear. There are a few tiny spots on the vinyl. There is some crackling and a few clicks. A few clicks repete on the first 2 tracks on Side A, less on the first 2 tracks on Side B. The balance of the record has only a few scattered clicks, infrequent. Most are llght. None of the described surface noise appears to come from wear. They seem inherent in the pressing. I feel the record has been played only a few times. The noise is irregular and only intrusive to the extent described. Overall the sound seems fine but don't expect a noise free record. This is truly a rare collector's item. Audibly checked.
