Description
Beautiful copy available here of John Giorno's rarest and first LP..! The sides are 'Raspberry'/'Pornographic Poem', and was self released in 1967!! It should be of interest to folks for a number of reasons....and I'll try to list a few here. It was recorded in New York in 1967 with a lot of underground POP ART theater/artist types...including most famously, Robert Rauschenberg(!) but also, Lee Crabtree(later from the Fugs & also director of Ginsberg's album of William Blake songs), Patti Oldenberg(Claus' wife?), Trisha Brown, Tod Berrigan, Alan Sarret, Nina Thurman, & a bunch of others. John Giorno continued to record a bunch more later in his life including his famous 'dial-a-poet' records which usual involved recordings by himself, Lydia Lunch & William Burroughs & a bunch of others. Giorno worked a lot with Burroughs, & was also Andy Warhol's boyfriend during the 60's. I couldn't find out any information online about this particular spoken performance, but I have been told from a reliable source that this is Giorno's first release. The copy of this record is still in shrink, with the shrink just ripped a bit along the right hand edge. The record looks new and unplayed. I would grade this record as EX+/NM. It goes without saying that this record is rare and I would say, in this kind of condition, it is truly 'one of a kind'.
