Music For Advertising by The Shakespeares
(Lyntone Records LYN-LP 372). Rare private pressing dated circa 1964/5, made for business use only to promote the music of advertising jingle writers John and Joan Shakespeare (John Carter was a pseudonym)-- Lots of quirky, tightly arranged pop, beat and jazz themes with Mike Sammes Singers-style light harmony vocals and scat singing, some have voice-overs and two feature solo vocalists Matt Monro and Craig Douglas.
One side features numerous examples of their jingles used on television and cinema advertising for various product including - Ford Cortina, Quosh Orange Drink, Hiltone Hair Products, Bols Apricot Liquor, Eden Vale Yoghurt, Listerine, Quality Street Chocolates, State Express, Service Washing Macchines, Good News Chocolates, Inventic Watches, Outspan Oranges, Weekend Chocolates, Hotpoint, Heinz Soups, Idea Lager, Mr Whippy Ice Cream, Alka Seltzer, Eskimo Frozen Foods, Birds Custard, Zal Disinfectant, Courage Beers, Babysham, etc - a few are short clips, most are full length jingles/themes.
The B-side includes their entire suite of music composed for a special film about Max Factor cosmetics - 'The Changing Face'.
The record and sleeve are both in VG++ condition (minor surface wear and slight creasing to sleeve opening at the top) with light scuffs/marks and clean labels.
Only pressed in tiny numbers and never available commercially. a treat for library music, soundtrack, lounge music, kitsch and sample lovers everywhere.
