Description

An original and genuine UK 1st press of IMAGINE. The problem with this title - is trying to distinguish a proper 1971 copy from the squillion other copies produced in the 70's! So, I shall go through the tell tale signs...! Matrix 1U/1U. Yes, that's a 1st cut - but it was used repeatedly in the early 70's. Etching 'Porky'. The 1st big indicator of an early copy is VINYL WEIGHT - this is a nice solid copy... unlike copies from '73-'80. Let's move onto the cover. You need to look for bluey-green hue copies with pinched spine. They changed the print job in '72. Then look at the bits and bobs that come with it. The important one is the poster - lots of copies surface with thin smooth paper.. A true 1st issue should have been printed on thick paper - like 'blotting paper' which is textured. We also have the promo 'piss-take of McCartney' postcard and an original bespoke inner sleeve. 100% genuine and 100% complete. THE REAL DEAL FOLKS.
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In great condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few very slight superficial type marks per side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with slight deviation in a couple of tracks. And you want the final proof of 1st press? Well, be assured it's in the audio! A clean 1st will shoot some pretty amazing audio. Problem is MOST copies tend to have been murdered by this point in time. Finding a carefully used true 1st, is therefore, not such an easy task. IMGAINE & JEALOUS GUY are typically played to death and exhibit signs of use. This example is playing both the popular and low-key tracks very nice and clean. Highly impressive. Well worth tracking down! At worst you might detect a touch of 'presence' in the quietest moments of 'Oh My Love' & 'How?'. A great rendition. And the REAL DEAL>
Cover (Vg+) In great shape and has not been abused. Nice clean front and rear with a couple of slight creases per side. Nothing unsightly. Only lightest edge wear - real nice. Nice firm and sharp openings. The spine is 100% intact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) Light ageing - very presentable. A 1c.m. bottom edge split.
Postcard (Vg) A little aged.
Poster (Vg) Light ageing. A couple of edge splits have been taped up [secured] on the rear.
