Description

For sale is John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band's self titled first album, originally released in 1970 by Apple Records with the Grey Apple label. I bought this record new, then professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into a MFSL archival inner sleeve. This preserves the integrity of the vinyl and any insert(s) or original inner sleeve(s) that may have come with the release. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers Z-8/Z-7 #3, followed by "Bell Sound" and "sf", indicating that an early stamper was used to make this first edition that was mastered at Bell Sound Studios, N.Y.C. by Sam Feldman. These are hallmarks of state-of-the art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. The inner sleeve is Excellent with some wrinkles. The cover is graded as VG+ because of ring wear, corner blunts, edge rubs and some stress cracks along the spine. One of the corners has some paper loss from shelf rubs. The spine has color loss and a small tear from these cracks and rubs. The vinyl is visually graded as Excellent because of slight sleeve marks, most of which are on side two. I'm play-grading it between Excellent and Near Mint because of occasional low level surface noise, but closer to Near Mint for most of the playback. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I bought it and still has a lot of life yet. This would make a great addition to a anyone's collection. This is the best copy of this release that I have ever seen or heard, and you would be hard pressed to find one in this condition again. It has become very rare and is impossible to find with the grey Apple label and mastered at Bell Sound by Sam Feldman. I have more Rock and Roll albums, as well as records of all different genres, listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're mostly Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing.    I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and have finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
