Description
John Martyn's 1984 album "Sapphire" on 12-inch vinyl ILPS 9779.
It is personally signed on the rear cover by John Martyn with the words:
"John Martyn WOZ ERE AN WOZ INTERVIEWED (HONEST) BEST O'LUCK" - please see the detailed image.
My late brother interviewed John Martyn several times in his radio career, and this interview would have been at Radio Trent in Nottingham, where he presented the folk programme.
The vinyl looks to be in excellent (perhaps even near-mint) condition and doesn't appear to have been played. The cover is in very good condition with one very minor tear on the top rim, but otherwise fine.
Please note that I am not a dealer or a record collector. The items I am selling are all from the extensive collection of my late brother.
He was a great music and radio enthusiast, working for both BBC and commercial radio stations in the East Midlands from 1980 until 2013 presenting various music shows, mostly folk and rock.
He interviewed John Martyn while working for Radio Trent in Nottingham.
During this period he interviewed many bands and artists in Nottingham, Derby and Leicester and usually had them sign copies of the albums they were promoting at the time. He was also sent many promotional, DJ-only and white-label pressings direct from the record companies.
Sadly my brother passed away in November 2013, so I am slowly disposing of his extensive record collection. He had no family of his own, so according to his wishes we have opened a trust account to help his nephew and two nieces through university, and the proceeds from these sales will be paid into that account.
I will be listing quite a few similar items over the coming months, as there are original signed albums by artists ranging from The Ramones to Bryan Ferry and Sandy Denny, plus some rarities and DJ-only promotional copies.
All vinyl will be sent in special secure mailers with stiffeners.
