Originally only available by mail order from John Martyn himself, hand numbered on rear of sleeve, some signed by John or John and Beverley with dedication or message to purchaser.
As pointed out by John Hillarby in the sleeve notes for the 2010 Deluxe 2cd Live At Leeds, only B1 and B2 are from the Leeds University concert. B3 is from a Leeds rehearsal, but with an overdubbed vocal. Remaining three tracks are actually from other concerts/venues.
********************************* It is my understanding that only 10,000 copies were produced and, of those, a limited amount were signed. I have seen some that are not numbered but this copy is number 345 and inscribed "Sorry to be so long - John & Beverley Martyn"
I have owned this record for just about a year. I have never played it so I cannot speak to the sound quality. The record itself looks to be in good to very good condition. I don't note a lot of scratches but there may be a few minor ones. I don't see anything that would affect the playing quality.
The sleeve itself is also in good to very good condition. (Please see photos.) In the time I have had it, I've kept it in a MoFi archival plastic sleeve to protect it.
I am not a record dealer nor do I have any experience/knowledge in grading vinyl. I've only owned it for 1 year of its 48 years of existence so please note you're buying it as-is. I do think it's in good enough condition to add to a personal collection or give as a gift. Considering its age and history, it looks pretty great to me. I also have no reason to doubt its authenticity given similar examples I've seen. Great piece of John Martyn history and memorabilia.
