Excellent sheen ! Excellent audio ! 1A/1A ! Superb example!
LK 4804 1st UK pressing Original release 1966
VERY first UK MONO release! First issue unboxed red Decca label format. The original album sleeve with Clapton reading the classic comic, The Beano!! Thick cut heavyweight vinyl, first UK pressing .Highly polished vinyl surfaces ! Excellent aural delivery ! Predominantly clear grooves and impossible to locate like this . One of the sexiest and collectable albums of the sixties!
Eric Clapton’s best ever album? Possibly renowned for the most definitive album of the 70’s on the British R & B scene.
The inclusion of Clapton in guitar helped Mayall reach a wider audience than the blues purists, as Clapton had an already established reputation. Clapton was added to the album’s title to broaden the commercial appeal. This tactic worked and the album soared to no. 6 in the UK charts.
This album was phenomenal and acted as a starting ground for the greatest blues musicians of that era. Hughie Flint on drums and John McVie on bass, exemplify just a couple of the influential artists of that time. This album showed the first time that Clapton was to have lead vocals on an album and what a debut album it turned out to be !!Many believe that this was Clapton’s very best performance as the playing from this icon is unbelievable on this album.
Vinyl
Thick , heavyweight pressing with matrices ARL-7297-1A with mega early stampers 1 / 2 / G I KT tax code
And ARL – 7298-1A 1 G A KT tax code .
Moderate playing history but carefully handled! No major problems. 3-4 surface marks/light scratches visible. Beautiful mirror like sheen from the surfaces.
Audio
Not heard much better aural delivery than this. No distortion hardly at all. Primarily clear channels for most of playback! During playback , there is a light scratch, which does appear to produce the faintest of ticks, during a fast and furious rock and roll stomp, (Side 1 track 1), but does little to affect the music presentation. You would not detect ,if you were not listening for a disturbance. The other two scratches are heard between tracks, so are not obtrusive at all .Mostly excellent audio channels, with the monotone perspective doing its job in sensational style . Each tone conveyed with a pinpoint precision and a razor sharp edge. A tremendous depth of sound from these vintage grooves .
Labels
1st issue, wide ridge labels. Red ,open DECCA format. A light spindle trace observed side 1 and side 2 has several spindle lines visible. Appear undamaged with no rips, nor tears, nor any graffiti . Excellent- examples of this awesome release .Becoming scarcer as each day passes !
Album cover
1st issue MacNeill Press manufacture. Clarifoil credits. Beano cover. One of the most famous album sleeves of the seventies with young Clapton sitting reading The Beano !! A must have for every serious vinyl collection. Beautifully laminated front . Vg/+ format !! One of the most famous album covers ever made and impossible to locate in this remarkable condition .Age discoloration only towards edges on reverse. Some light feathering to opening edge. . Pinched spine in remarkable format with title clearly visible . A superb exhibit of this infamous sleeve . No rips nor tears , a moderate crease on one corner of front face, lower right. And a corner crease top left. No hand writing !!!
Inner sleeve plain white, poly lined ,Patent numbered.
This album had a major influence on countless guitarists and can certainly be heralded as one of the definitive albums of the electric blues sound. NOT to be missed and a must have for the serious vinyl enthusiast!! Will find difficult to match this phenomenal classic BLUES psyche .
