Over the next several months we have the pleasure of listing a spectacular vinyl collection of over 6000 LP's. This collection consisting of mostly Jazz but also Blues, Folk ,Rock, Soundtracks and Classical was kept in amazing condition. Most of the records were played once, transferred to tape for listening and then stored away in cliplock sealed bags in specially made cupboards. The overall condition of this collection is sublime to say the least and whatever items I list as Near Mint you can be assured that it was probaly only ever played once!! Over the last few weeks you may have noticed some of the lovely jazz & rock titles I have listed, these are just the tip of the iceberg here. I hope you enjoy seeing these listings as much as I have in offering them.
In 1973 John Sangster was commissioned to produce this album for a film being produced to promote Surfer’s Paradise in Queensland. “The Paradise album is a suite of original music composed by well know Australian musician JOHN SANGSTER and played by the John Sanster Concert Orchestra”. The concept for the album was developed by John Sangster, producer Warren Mills and Ross Farquhar (who also worked on the “Australia & all that Jazz” series). Highlights include the Isaac Hayes / Shaft styled cut called “Gold Coaster". It has a more of a laid back jazzy feel combining elements of bossa nova, funky guitar, field recordings (of local wildlife) and Lounge style grooves. There are parts that remind me of his “Inner Space” album and others have a feel similar to the “Australia & all That Jazz” releases. Overall a great album and one worth checking out if you come across it on your travels. Features Kerry Biddell, Errol Buddle & Don Burrows. A beautiful mixture of 70's jazz, funk sounds from the rich rhodes keyboards and funky bass lines, some lovely sax and gorgeous soundscape sounds.
