Description

Up for sale is an original Impulse Mono Edition I of John Coltrane's "Ascension". This LP is among Coltrane's highest rated albums. What was unique about this release is two takes of this recording were made. After the release Coltrane did not like the take that was released and wanted the other take released instead. As a result the current releases of "Ascension" were removed from production and the take in which Coltrane wanted was released. In the Dead Wax Edition II was stamped. Thus making Edition I much harder to get. This listing is for the original MONO release of Edition I. 
The vinyl is in EX condition and is full play graded. It is a wonderful copy with really strong audio. Just some very light paper marks. Great Shine. 
The cover is VG+. This is a thick gatefold cover. All the seams are strong and intact. There is just some light staining in spots. A really nice cover.
