Description

Johnny Cash
"The Folsom Prison"
"The Folk Singer"
10" 45-rpm Acetate
Columbia (1968).
Here is a VERY rare Johnny Cash item. This item came from a Nashville musician who I believe played with Cash in one studio or another and who was a big fan who sold off his collection. The vinyl is bright and full of luster and there are signs of use, most notably one light surface scratch on The Folk Singer all across the grooves. The sleeve is plain and seems original to the record. "The Folsom Prison" is marked on the record as monaural and as "version #1", "The Folk Singer" a "version #3.
Upon doing some research, Johnny Cash's personal copy sold at the 2010 Julien's live auction (which was version #3 of the Folsom Prision). No doubt Johnny had this in his posession at one time or another (no proof, just my opinion), and gave it away.
I have included photos (screen shots) of the one sold in the Julien's 2010 auction for reference, which sold for a little over $1,000 (plus buyers premiums, which can be anywhere from 10-25%). With Johnny Cash's popularity rising that piece in my opinion would sell for way more than what it did 5 years ago.
Items this rare don't surface often, better get it while you can !!! Thanks for looking, please ask any questions prior to bidding/buying..
