Description
“This was Johnny Cash’s first live album in a prison, and it became one of his most successful albums of all time. The first track and title song became one of his biggest hits. The superstar had a connection with prisoners unlike that of any other performer with any audience. His album liner notes tell his story of his love and concern for these men. The album pulls music from his performance at the prison in early 1968. Joining Cash at the show were his wife, June Carter, and his old friend, Carl Perkins. The album was released on Columbia later that year, number CS 9639. This is the original release of the album.”
As noted above, the vinyl is in VG/VG+ condition with a nice deep black original luster, some light groove wear and some light surface scuffs. It plays well, with some sporadic background noise, mostly during the quiet spots. The album cover is VG+ or better, especially considering it’s age, shows almost no ring wear and just light corner and edge wear. This is a “must-have” record!
