US 1956 Blue Note mono release (1580 - Original West 63rd St - 'RVG' & the little ear in the run out grooves - deep groove is present on both labels) of 'The Congregation' by Johnny Griffin. Front cover art by Andy Warhol. Tracks are The Congregation, Latin Quarter, I'm Glad There Is You, Main Spring And It's You Or No One. Record and sleeve are in ex condition.This is a very conservative grading. Record has been cleaned on a VPI machine especially for this sale. There is no surface noise and the record retains a deep black sheen. The playing surface has no marks or scratches to speak of, it has obviously been played only once or twice, if at all! It is very close to near mint. The wear on the bottom left and right corners are the only defects here. The bottom left corner has a small split on the spine which is around 1 1/2 cm and there is a small amount of wear on the opening to the sleeve on the bottom right corner (see photos). Has no discolouration of the white front sleeve. Back sleeve has very minimal discolouration (see photos). Labels are excellent, no spindle marks and no stains or marks. There are two import stickers on the back sleeve, as this copy must have been imported to the UK at it's time of issue.
