     This record is visually graded.  E   Opening price due to condition and historical importance.
   I will be auctioning off a few 78 rpm records, about 60 to 80,  mostly Jazz and Big Band and a few 50's Pop.  So please return to see them.    I will mention that I have been a collector since the 60's and earlier.  And have sold them since the early 1980's.  Sometimes on VJM when Mr. Tervor Benwell was still running it.  And my own mailing list.  So, I think my grading is very close to the real thing.   For the present, I think that grading visually is best for now.  Because, there is the difference of size needle used in records from the 20's to the 50's.  Then, also the different record labels used different equalization, roll over.  Thus, the slight but noticeable sound of different labels from different times.  But most  important I do not have a good 78 stylus at this time.  The great majority of the records have been stored without a record sleeve sometime during their life.  Thus, the label will show some signs of wear, as well as the shellac.  But, the the grooves should be considered "unplayed".  I will not offer any records that have any gray.  A sign that they were played with a "bad" needle and badly damaged.  Gray is a sign of heavy wear and lack of music.  I will offer a few that do have pops and clicks but for the most part the music is mostly there.  And they are some what rare.      I will mail them like they have been from the start.  In a box that is bigger than 10 inches, about 12 to give an inch for each side for protection. and ideally surrounded with newspaper.  This is the way that they were mailed out since the 50's.     I have resisted selling 78's on eBay because of the work involved to packaging them up.  So please take that into consideration and let me know if you are bidding on more than one.  That will help with the working of boxing and save you some money.
