Description

An original 1st press..."Gramophone" perimeter text. Matrix A1U/B1U - 1st cut. Stampers 1P/1RR - placing it amongst the first copies ever pressed. "John Lord" etching in the deadwax [wrongly spelt!]The heavy-set vinyl comes housed in an original textured gatefold cover.
(Ex/Ex+) In superb condition and has clearly only seen very light careful use. Under close inspection I'm struggling to make out anything other than the very lightest couple of marks - nothing remotely troublesome. There's the very slightest edge wobble only just noticeable on side 2. Measured at a maximum of 1mm amplitude.. I'm mentioning it to be 100% upfront - it does not affect the audio in any way. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with one slight deviation. Top-level audio as only found on a very early 1st pressing which is well preserved. Intros and inbetweens are practically silent and the audio comes across with perfect clarity. Expect nothing more than a couple of slightest static rustles in a couple of those ultra-quiet sections. The only deviation I could make out was two or three minor ticks in the first section on side 2. A small price to pay for what represents an amazing level of preservation.
Cover (Ex/Ex+) Again, the original owner really has been so so careful with this cover. Lovely and clean with no ageing at all. Surfaces lie totally flat - there's no curling at all. There's one crease at the opening on the rear. Edge wear is extremely minor - you'd be hard pushed to find a better preserved copy. The spine is almost totally untouched. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A bit of a one-off in my opinion.
