Description
Jose Afonso (also known as Zeca Afonso, or Zeca) CANTIGAS DO MAIO, 1971 Portugese pressing, Orfeu ST 009, GATEFOLD EDITION. Largely light, experimental arrangements that often include accordian, flute, viola, trumpet and (in one instance) mouth harp. If you enjoy the lilting inspirational approach to PROTEST FOLK then get this because, frankly, this sounds pretty space-y. The album contains his song Grandola, Vila Morena, which was broadcast over Portugese airwaves to signal the 1974 Carnation Revolution that toppled the previous dictatorship.
CONSERVATIVE GRADE--I do not give out grades of m-, vg++ or vg+++ vinyl = vg+; clean and shiny; single scuff on side 2 that betrays very little surface noise; sound is crisp and clear cover = vg+; sticker residue on front top-left board
