LP:Joy Division,Unknown Pleasures
'A lacquer was made at the Bovema / EMI Studios in Holland (to be identified in the runouts). The same plates were used for different pressings to serve the Scandinavian area (as from the 'n©b' rights society notion on the labels), as well as for a Factory Benelux release.
All following editions show could be considered 'mispress' : 'B' was engraved in the runouts on the side that has the Outside A-side tracks and vice versa.
The outer sleeves of these editions all have a glossy look, but some have a light textured pattern if you look closely from the side, and others clearly not. Some have the 'Garrod & Lofthouse' printer on the back of the sleeve.
The square paper printed inner sleeves are exactly the same on all 5 editions.
5 known pressings came up over the years with following characteristics for differentiation :
- no specific logo at the bottom of the labels / 'Garrod & Lofthouse' on the back of the non-textured sleeve BR> - 'n©b' logo at the bottom of the labels / 'Garrod & Lofthouse' on the back of the non-textured sleeve BR> - 'n©b' logo at the bottom of the labels / no 'Garrod & Lofthouse' on the back of the non-textured sleeve BR> - 'n©b' logo at the bottom of the labels / no 'Garrod & Lofthouse' on the back of the textured sleeve BR>Factory Benelux logo at the bottom of the labels / no 'Garrod & Lofthouse' on the back of the textured sleeve (this edition)
Glossy and slightly textured sleeve (visible from the side) without the 'Garrod & Lofthouse' notation on the back..
Square printed paper inner sleeve.
Factory Benelux logo on labels.
Some copies from this edition also have switched labels.
