Up for auction I have a UK original pressing of Joy Division's legendary debut album Unknown Pleasures released on Manchesters Factory Records.Catalogue number is Fact 10. The vinyl I have graded as being in an excellent condition with only light to medium hairline surface marks,however it does suffer from an edge warp,although this doesn't cause the record to jump/skip it does,on my record player at least,cause a slight hiss on each rotation for half of the 1st track on side 1 and side 2.This as I say happens on my turntable though not on a friends but my turntable is vey sensitive.Outer sleeve is in excellent condition with the usual light ringwear so typical of this sleeve and some light edgewear and light creasing.I have included detailed pictures as I aim to hide absolutely nothing.The rounded corner inner sleeve again is in excellent condition(some light finger marks,again common with this record).Copies with the rounded inner sleeve and coupled with the TRANSLUCENT vinyl are becoming increasingly scarce.
Please note that the vinyl DOES show up reddish/purple when held up to the light.These copies are becoming near impossible to locate. It does have the very early "This Is The Way" and "Step" etchings (taken from the track Atrocity Exhibition,a song that would appear on Joy Divisions Closer lp) on the run out indicating a very early 1979 Factory Records press.
I have been selling Joy Division items on ebay for a number of years now and unlike many,I do know the difference in pressings.It is confusing,but rest assured when I sell a 1st press it indeed is a 100% original UK 1st press. I was recently invited to donate rare Joy Division artefacts to the Macclesfield Museum(see below)

Macclesfield Silk Museum is currently searching for interesting Joy Division artefacts for a proposed exhibition due to take place in May 2010. The exhibition is being curated by Jon Savage, and Peter Saville is the creative director.
The museum would like to hear from anyone who may be interested in loaning unseen photos, live recordings or footage, flyers, posters, badges or any other rare memorabilia.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM
MINT :The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed be Mint.
EXCELLENT :The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD :The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
I may use a + or a - to emphasise a grading which may be inbetween a grade. I will never use a mint grading for a 2nd hand/used record for instance. Mint- will be the very highest grade.
