Sleeve: VG
- Original textured sleeve printed and made in Great Britain by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd
- Some ring wear, creasing and wear to edges
- Peter Saville's iconic sleeve is a plotted visualization of successive radio wave pulses from the first pulsar discovered - CP 1919.
Inner: VG
- White inner sleeve with square corners
- Track listing & credits on one side, black and white image of 'Hand Through a Doorway', by Ralph Gibson on the reverse.
- Some ring wear, creasing and wear to the edges with minor splitting. 7409 written neatly in blue ink on bottom right corner.
Labels: EX
- labels depict iconic pulsar image in reverse colour, white on black(outside) and black on white (inside).
- Black label is EX, no wear, text or marks etc. White label is EX with a small isolated smudge to the right of the spindle hole.
Vinyl: VG
- Two variants of the first pressing exist on black and dark translucent red vinyl. These can only be differentiated when held against a strong light source.
- Note, this is the rarer, sought after, translucent red variant.
- Numerous hairlines and other superficial marks, none of which effect audio, plays well throughout with no skips, jumps, sticks or pops etc.. VG

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
