Description

This is a very rare and bizarre piece of British Metal history. This is the first Judas Priest single "Rocka Rolla" single sided 10" acetate cut at Motown Records. Motown records is what makes this bizarre. Why Judas Priest on Motown records?  Judas Priest was first signed to Gull records in 1974 and released 2 singles and 2 albums before signing with CBS.  Motown records released very few Gull records for the US market. They were going to release Sad Wings Of Destiny but the Gull/Motown deal fell through and only a handful of Gull/Motown releases exist. What is strange, is Motown didn't bother with the first Judas Priest album due to lack of record sales. But the Motown VP wanted to test the waters by releasing the first Judas Priest single. The idea got quickly scrapped and that is when the deal fell through and Motown quit releasing any more Gull releases and therefor no Priest records or singles were every released on Motown. Making this acetate the only remaining piece of history in the Judas Priest, Gull/Motown deal. A very rare piece of British Metal history and Motown history. The only metal record in the Motown list of artist. You will never see another one of these.The acetate is in pristine condition. If you have any questions, please message me and I will answer.
