Just when you thought you'd heard all of 2021's most aptly titled albums along come Kaae & Batz with Lush. To steal from the esteemed author and indie publishing icon Dave Eggars' memoir, this is a heartbreaking work of staggering genius, delivered by a pair of musicians who have already impressed millions with the score to Netflix hit series, Borderlands.

LP number three for the duo arrives on Copenhagen's Stereo Label imprint, and fans of the stable will already know what that means. Beautiful arrangements that veer from deeply atmospheric and eerie ('Into the Void Part 1'), to more playful, sweet tones ('Cloudy Days'). The result is something extraordinary - a downtempo album that avoids predictability, sets its own stall out, and never repeats what came before. Proof, if it were needed, that this year is still not done with essential offerings.
